SATURDAY TO-AND-IN FIRENZE

First a review of our last night in Bologna...

Dinner again at Al Sangiovese. Great meal and we got to meet a wonderful couple at the table next to us:  Lucy and Marco. (Lucia Fanti is a renown race car driver!) We made so much noise that the people living above the restaurant called down to ask us to tone it down!

Then it was time to leave and we had to say goodbye to our hostess, Antonella.

But first one must finish the espresso and grappa branca!

Before we leave Bologna, just want to share with you the new flavor gelato we discovered. Naturally, it is the best!
Next morning we were up and off. Took a 37 minutes train ride to Florence. On the way to the train platform we were tempted to take the "KISS & RIDE" but we had a reservation to make.

The a taxi to our hotel, Loggiato dei Serviti. We stayed here the last time we were in Florence. A bit disappointed to find the hotel not being kept up as well as we remembered. Also, the Piazza out front is dirty and loud. Last night a group of young people were carrying on right under our window till well after 11:30. Oh well...

The day was for traveling and planning. After we arrived Karin went off to the Accademia to visit the David...among others...and Bob & Stew went off to get advance tickets to the Uffitizi for Tuesday. Our visit is a bit odd in that today is Saturday and our first full day is Sunday. On Monday most museums are closed. The one good aspect is that this is the first Sunday of the month so all state museums are free.

To end the day we had dinner at Lo Skipper. It was great. From the rissotto, to the eggplant, to the pasta to the grouper...YUM. We will be back there on Monday night as they are closed on Sundays.
Shall we share?

Glad that's resolved...
